UK education

some movies about school in the UK that come to mind:
in "To Sir With Love" in the 1960's, Sidney Poitier is an American teacher in a working class British high school. More recently, "Notes on a Scandal" takes place in a working class high school. Discipline methods look familiar. Then, there is "The History Boys" a posh public school. We see the teachers train the boys how to take thier uniersity entrance exams. (Surprise: the worst student gets accepted because he is a superior athlete.) This movie also shows the relationship between faculty and administration. There's also "The Winslow Boy" about a boy at a school similar to Harrow or Eton. And, or course, if you want to see what happens to those who drop out at 16, watch "The Jeremy Kyle Show" on ITV. Any others?

  1. I liked Notes on a Scandal and especially To Sir with love!

the only other films I could think of aren't solely about school but definitely mention the system:

One film that I always think of as well (though it isn't solely about school) is Bend it Like Beckham where her family is worried about her A-levels instead of her talent of playing football.
Another film I watched was Starter for 10 about a student (James McAvoy) who attends Bristol University and joins their quiz team.
